First female Superstar ‘Sridevi’ passes away in Dubai

Veteran actor Sridevi, passed away in Dubai, following a cardiac arrest. She was 55. She had gone to Dubai to attend the wedding of her nephew Mohit Marwah.

Known for her scintillating screen presence and unmatched beauty, the actor made her Bollywood debut in ‘Solva Sawan’ in 1978. Her movie ‘Himmatwala’ opposite Jeetendra, earned her the commercial success, making her one of the most sought actors in the industry.

Her acting in ‘Mawaali’ (1983), ‘Tohfa’ (1984), ‘Mr India’ (1987), ‘Chandni’ (1989), ‘Sadma’ (1983), ‘ChaalBaaz’ (1989), ‘Lamhe’ (1991), and ‘Gumrah’ (1993) earned her both commercial success and critical acclaim.

After a 15-year hiatus, she acted in ‘Judaai’ co-starring her brother-in-law Anil Kapoor. In 2012, she made a comeback in Gauri Shinde’s ‘English Vinglish.’

She also starred in a revenge drama ‘MOM’ last year and will be seen for the last time in a cameo in Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Zero’ slated to release in December.Sridevi is survived by her husband Boney Kapoor, daughters Khushi and Janhvi and step-children Arjun and Anshula Kapoor.
