Share the news

The annual Snana Purnima (bathing ritual) was held on June 9, 2017. The ritual began with the Pahandi of Trinity, which were brought from inside the Jagannath Temple to the Snana Bedi. After the rituals, the deities were bathed with 108 pitchers of aromatic waters. After the ‘chhera pahanra’ ritual by Gajapati, the deities were adorned with the ‘Gajavesha’ or ‘elephant’s gear.’ After the Snana Purnima ritual, the deities are believed to fall sick for 15 days.
