Cuttack: Although she started her career as a child artist she is popularly known as Ollywood’s Maa or Mother for decades. She is none other than veteran Ollywood and television actress Anita Das who left us today just two days before Mothers’ Day. Anita died of cardiac arrest at her residence near Shelter Chhak here at the age of 67.
Odia cine lovers know her for basically portraying the mother character in ‘Pua Mora Kala Thakura’, Bahudibe Mo Jaga Balia and the struggling women in ‘Ki Heba Shua Poshile’(1991). She has been also appeared in the films Krishna Sudama (1976), Ramayan (1980), Swapna Sagara (1983), Gadhi Janile Ghara Sundara (1994), Maa-o-Mamata (1980) and Ki Heba Sua Posile (1991). For her more than 150 films there are some Hindi movies too. She had been awarded with state awards three times in her career.
In one sequence in Pua Mora Kala Thakura she holds a tiny idle of Lord Jagannath as if Lord is her son, which will be in the hearts of Odia cine lovers for coming years too. In that Raju Misra directed movie eminent actor Bijay Mohanty played her son and later in Ki Heba Sua posile, he played her Husband.
