Bhubaneswar: It usually shouldn’t go wrong, especially in an all-important programme of none other than President of India, but IIT Bhubaneswar messed up on a lot of things, which could have been avoided.
Since it was the convocation ceremony which was to be attended by President Ram Nath Kovind and a host of other dignitaries including Odisha Governor SC Jamir and Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, it was obvious that media would be present in large numbers.
For the event, IIT-B management had assigned two vehicles for transporting journalists from Jaydev Bhawan to their campus. Though the two vehicles did drop the journalists, while returning the second vehicle ditched them.
With no immediate means of transport and the venue being in an isolated place, the journalists including a woman had to walk for some time before the scribe group made arrangements on their own.
Worse, the journalists, who were present from 1pm to 5pm were not even provided water at the event venue and asked to go outside the meeting area, if they wanted to drink water.
Such a behavior from a prestigious institution like IIT is uncalled for.
