Bhubaneswar: It may be during our schooling days or even college days of some we had to prepare reports on assigned topics and in the end it has to be submitted to the teacher. But every time we used to delay for it. In excuse we had one option, #SorrySir I have completed it but left the report in home. The same story is reflected in Odisha. The State government haven’t been able to present probe reports of numerous sensitive issues like Gumudumaha police firing and SUM Hospital fire mishap. This matter came to limelight when a written reply of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik was given to a query of BJP MLA Dilip Ray in the Odisha Assembly today.
Out of 12 Commissions of Inquiry that has been constituted, 9 reports have been received by the government and only 4 have been presented in the Assembly. After death of Justice Sarat Chandra Mohapatra who was heading the commission to probe the murder of Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati, Justice A S Naidu was appointed by the government. Cm in his reply told that Rs 2 crore was spent on the commission which submitted its report to government in December 2015. But the report is still to be tabled in the State Assembly.
The Justice CR Pal Commission for setting up permanent benches of Orissa High Court in different parts of the State was formed in 2008. Although the commission submitted its report to the government six years later, it is yet to be tabled in the House. Government of Odisha has spent Rs 1.61 crore on the Commission.
For the multi-crore chitfund scam the highest amount of Rs 4.23 crore has been spent which was formed in 2013. It was first headed by Justice RK Patra and later by Justice MM Das. Four interim reports have been submitted, but none of them has been tabled yet.
The RDC submitted its report on SUM Hospital fire mishap to the State government in June, 2017. It was a national topic for some weeks but Government of Odisha yet to brin the report to assembly. The commission of inquiry headed by Koraput district judge has been investigating into the alleged gang rape of a minor girl of Kunduli in Koraput. They had 3 months to give report but it has been more than 6 months. The same saying will be repeated even after months, #SorrySir I have completed it but left the report in home.
