Odisha Vigilance Seizes Rs 11.73 Lakh Unaccounted Money From Senior Official

Bhubaneswar : Odisha Vigilance officials detected unaccounted cash to the tune of Rs 11.73 lakh from a senior State Government official today. According to the Vigilance this is the highest ever cash seized from a Government official in the history of the anti-corruption agency.

The official in question, Pradeep Kumar Mohanty was the Deputy Director of Agriculture posted at Jeypore. He was transferred recently and was heading to Bhubaneswar to join as the Joint Director (Farm and Seeds) in the Directorate of Agriculture, the Vigilance said.

Mohanty was carrying a huge amount of cash of Rs 11,73,430 which he could not account for satisfactorily. “This is the highest amount of cash ever seized by Odisha Vigilance during Interception of public Servant carrying illegal & unaccounted for money,” a senior official of Koraput Vigilance Division said.

Further investigation is on.
