Odisha DGP Appeals People To Exercise Self-Control

Bhubaneswar: Odisha DGP has appealed to the people to take steps to protect themselves against COVID-19 as the lockdown restrictions will be eased to a large extent from June 8.

A senior officer said police have been enforcing social distancing and other norms while taking tough steps for violations but people will have to be more responsible and have self-control with more relaxations coming in, according to a TNIE report.

The Centre has permitted opening of religious places, restaurants, hotels and shopping malls in non-containment areas from June 8 while ensuring social distancing.

Police Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi said crackdown on violators will continue. “Social distancing and wearing of masks must be abided by,” he said. Additional CP Anup Kumar Sahoo said reopening of market places in the City will be allowed basing on guidelines and timings decided by the Government.

Meanwhile, Commissionerate Police has decided to re-deploy traffic volunteers in the twin city from Monday. “As movement of vehicles is expected to increase following relaxation in lockdown, traffic volunteers will be deployed,” said an officer
